Brain’s Reward Circuit:

The brain’s reward circuit, also known as the mesolimbic reward system, plays a crucial role in the development of addiction. It involves a complex network of brain structures, including the ventral tegmental area (VTA), nucleus accumbens, and prefrontal cortex. This circuit is responsible for the feelings of pleasure and reinforcement associated with rewarding activities, including substance use. Drugs and alcohol can hijack this circuit, leading to compulsive drug-seeking behavior and addiction.
